Mid-Mon Valley Model Railroad Club
Our club participates in several Special Events throughout
the year.
The Annual Holiday Open House is an opportunity for the
public to view the club layout. It is opened on weekends from the Saturday
after Thanksgiving until the first weekend after the New Year. The doors are open
from
12:00 p.m. (noon) until 5:00 p.m. At the Open House we run 3 or 4 trains
simultaneously over the entire layout and we change out the trains as
running conditions and desire dictate. In 2011, our Open House event will run
from November 26, 2011 through January 8, 2012. The specific dates for the 2011
season are: November 26 and 27, December 3 and 4, 10 and 11, 17 and
18, and January 7 and 8. We will be closed on Christmas
Eve and Christmas Day
and New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
Our club also partners with the New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department to hold
an Annual Train Show and Sale. Numerous vendors offer their
wares to attendees, there are modular displays so that attendees may see
running trains and there are also classes on various subjects pertaining to
model railroading. This event is held in the New Eagle VFD Social Hall in
late January or early as the schedule (and the football schedule) permit.
The date of the next Train Show is January 29, 2012.
We also display our modular layout at the August Fun Fest in Cedar
Creek Park usually held on the second Sunday in August. This year
the date is August 14, 2011. This is a
great chance for us to meet many members of the public who come out for the
fair and introduce them to this wonderful hobby.
